The Funding and Investment Team is delighted to welcome Aurele Soules to the team! Aurele joined us at the end of April and will be heading up the support offered around accessing EU funding. Let’s get to know him.
What will your role involve?
Predominantly I will be focused on supporting organisations from across the county to access European funding opportunities by providing support in every step of the bidding process; from the emergence of the project idea and building the project strategy, right through to partner facilitation and writing the bid.
In addition to promoting European funding programmes and raising awareness of grant opportunities, I will also deliver workshops on European funding, ensuring that attendees, be that public bodies, businesses and/or the voluntary, community and social sectors leave with the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to embark on sourcing and securing funding from the array of EU funding opportunities.
What’s your background?
Following a double degree majoring in Law and English, I decided to widen my expertise on European cohesion policy and its economic stakes, and I graduated from the University of Picardy Jules Verne (France) with an MA in International Management, with specialisation in European project management. Prior to joining Essex County Council, I was part of the External Funding Team at East Sussex County Council, working specifically on European Funding. This was an uplifting experience and highlighted the potential benefits of EU funding to organisations, where European grant giving represents a vital funding source that cannot be neglected in the context of the national budget cuts we are all facing.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to utilising my expertise in encouraging the development of European projects across the County, contributing to the Economic development of Essex through a European scope, therefore spreading the European dynamic in the common interest of Essex stakeholders, leading to the best possible opportunities to achieve their economic prospects.
If you want to find out more about EU Funding and would like to access the benefits that this type of funding could bring, you can book your place on the next workshop.
